Building our collective power

With your help, we’re installing community-owned renewable energy across St Albans District. We’re breaking free from fossil fuels, reducing energy bills and reinvesting in the local community.

How does community energy work?

arrow

Community fundraising

We raise funds through Community Share Offers, allowing local people and organisations to invest in renewable energy installations.

arrow

Installing renewables

We use local trades to install community-owned solar panels, batteries and heat pumps on community centres, schools, hospitals and other large buildings.

arrow

Reducing energy bills

We sell the generated electricity to host sites at lower prices than corporate suppliers, saving money on their energy bills and reducing their emissions.

arrow

Funding local projects

We reinvest our profits into a Community Benefit Fund, which our members democratically distribute to local projects and initiatives.

Society members decide how our surplus is spent for maximum benefit in our community.

The planet benefits as we replace fossil fuel dependency with locally-owned renewable energy.
