Alban Community Energy is a registered community benefit society with the aim of generating lasting value through a people-powered energy transition.
We are owned and democratically controlled by our members, with our primary purpose being to benefit the communities across St Albans District. As well as reducing energy bills for our host sites and offering independent energy advice services, our profits are reinvested into local initatives through a Community Benefit Fund.
Official membership is not yet open, but we encourage you to join our mailing list to be the first to find out when and how you can become a member.
ACE is run by a group of St Albans District residents who believe that communities – not corporations – should own and benefit from the renewable energy transition.
We are lucky to have a wealth of experience within our team.
Our in-house technical expertise includes solar PV, solar thermal, wind turbines, heat pumps, building energy demand reduction, home retrofit and energy microgrids. This positions ACE to oversee projects from feasibility assessment and energy modelling, through to selecting the right contractors for installation and maintaining excellent quality control.
Our team also includes experienced community organisers with a wide range of backgrounds across public, private and voluntary sectors. This allows us to collaborate with all parties to deliver complex projects for the benefit of local people.
Not an energy expert? Not a problem! We still want you and your unique skills to get involved in this community-led group, so please reach out if you would like to join the team.
